This single phonics pack focuses on initial consonant blend ‘dr’ CCVC words. As with the other consonant blends packs: it is child-centred child-friendly and a step up from CVC and CCV to Phase 4: Letters and Sounds Phonics. It is an addition to my other resources on initial consonant blends. This smaller pack contains: Lesson Plan with learning objectives, lesson starter, main activities and plenary - You can choose which parts are relevant to your class. PowerPoint slides are referred to in the plan. PowerPoint Presentation 1 - includes explanation of initial blend, CCVC words and whole class activities to prepare children for their independent activities. PowerPoint Presentation Phoneme Count - Again, as in the others, I have listed all the CCVC words and the units of sound above the fingers so that children can see and hear the separate phonemes (with pictures). Encourage children to make simple sentences with the words to understand its meaning and distinguish between nouns, verbs or adjectives. Flash cards and words with and without sound buttons and lines. Set of pictures and words for matching activities. Differentiated Activity Sheets 1, 2, 3 - for cut/paste work, writing sentences and reading and matching words to pictures. This resource focuses on repeated patterns using Christmas patterns and shapes. Students can practice creating their own Christmas patterns. Teacher’s Notes describes the lesson which you can choose to make it last throughout the whole morning or afternoon or 1 hour session. Content: PowerPoint Presentation (10 Slides) - Include whole class activities, examples of repeated Christmas patterns, in the Presentation children are asked where they have seen repeated patterns of pictures - they might mention their wallpaper at home, car seat covers, on printed clothes (e.g. socks) etc. Differentiated Activity Sheets 1 and 2 - Complete the sequence of pictures Activity Sheet 1b – Pictures to cut out to complete Activity Sheets Blank Repeating Patterns Worksheets to create own repeating pattern Extension Patterns Worksheet Extension Christmas Shapes Worksheets for early finishers A one hour lesson for students to explore repeating patterns in the context of Christmas. The lesson should last 50 mins to 1 hour depending on how long your students take to design their patterns: Introduction to set the scene: 10-15mins; Main Lesson 15-20 mins; Consolidation of lesson (work at table): 20 mins; and Plenary/Closing session 5-10mins. Bring in some Christmas wrapping paper with repeated patterns of pictures and/or shapes or you can display Slide 1 showing examples of Christmas patterns. Students may have been wrapping presents or looking at wrapped presents. Focus their attention on the patterns. This lesson takes children through looking at simple picture patterns and working out the next picture in the sequence. Aimed at: Years 1 and 2 and/or children still finding it challenging to segment and blend, ESL/EFL students and SEN students. Use in English language learning classes - use pictures as a visual prompt to segment and blend words. This product relates to UK sterling money pounds and pence. Its aim is to encourage students to use different skills to find solutions to a two-step problem. Aimed at: Keystage 1/Lower Keystage 2. Ideal for revising adding up coins and to finding how much more money to pay for an item. The worksheets start off with small denominations and then it increases to 50p and £1. There are 60 differentiated worksheets. Worksheet 1 - up to 10p (11 pages) Worksheet 2 - up to 20p (11 pages) Worksheet 3 - up to 30p (12 pages) Worksheet 4 - up to 50p (12 pages) Worksheet 5 - up to £1.00 (14 pages) <strong>Description: </strong> The worksheet is divided into 3 columns. The first column contains the price of the item. The second column shows the coins the customer uses to pay for the item but unfortunately it is not enough. The problem is in two parts: - Add up the total amount of the coins and write it in the blank box. Find out how much the customer is short by, i.e. how much more he/she has to pay and then fill in the box. The space above the box in the third column is for the student to show their workings out. This product relates to alphabet activities for Reception/Year 1, SEN and ESL/EFL/ESOL. Learning Objectives: To begin to learn about alphabetic order and matching upper to lower case letters. To identify initial sounds. Content: • Teacher’s notes • 2 Sets of Aa-Zz puzzle pieces – Cut/paste • Aa-Zz -Matching letters of the alphabet to pictures • Aa-Zz - Tracing over letters and matching to pictures Description Cut and Paste to match Puzzle pieces Place a selection of Aa – Zz puzzle sheets on tables for children to cut out and match upper and lower case letters and stick into workbook or on a separate sheet of paper. They can trace inside the letters with different colour pencils (rainbow tracing). For the capital letter part of the puzzle ask children to write words beginning with capital letters such as their name if it begins with that letter, a city, day or month, a place of interest etc and draw pictures. For the lower case part of the puzzle, ask children to write and draw things beginning with that letter that does not always begin with a capital letter. Please see sample preview in preview pane. Matching letters to pictures and colour activity ‘Aa is for’ to ‘Zz is for’ activity – tell children they need to colour in the picture that begins with that letter and not to colour in the other pictures. This resource is on the hundred square and the 1-120 square/grid. Students gain practice in moving up and down in tens and matching tens and ones/units grids to the numbers on the hundred square. Referring to the hundred square to complete word problem questions. If you are looking for some hundred square activities, then resource is ideal for use in lessons, review and homework. Answer Keys included. Content: • Worksheet 1 – (2 pages) - Students complete the hundred square from 1 to 100. After completing it, there are 11 questions to answer. • Worksheet 2 – (2 pages) - Students fill in the partially completed hundred square. After completing it, there are 7 activities to do. This resource relates to counting hearts of different colours. Children choose the correct colours to count and record their answers. Aimed at: EYFS/Year 1 Content: • Teacher Notes (3 pages) -with suggested activities • 20 – Two-Colour Count Heart Shapes Cards • 10 – Three-Colour Count Heart Shapes Cards • 10 – Two-Colour Count Heart Cards with Number Track • 11 – Colour Flash cards with words • 1 sheet of four different colour number tracks Laminate the above and cut out the flash cards and number tracks. A lovely resource which can be used for one-to-one and small group assessment. It can be used as an early morning maths input for children to practise counting. In addition, children will be consolidating their knowledge on colours: red, blue, black, purple, orange, white, green, grey, yellow, brown and pink. The counting cards are differentiated. For children that need some support: There is also a set of cards with a number track. For example, if the card has 5 white hearts and 4 red hearts, s/he counts the red hearts and then point to the number on the number track before writing the number next to the red heart picture. Extension work example For the more able children, you can ask how many hearts altogether. This will lead into more formal addition work: 3 green hearts + 4 orange hearts equals 7 hearts altogether. This resource relates to column addition with no grouping. If you are introducing column addition and/or you want your students to practice column addition and place value (how to write horizontal addition sums correctly in columnar form) then you can add these worksheets to your maths lessons. You may want to start your students off by re-writing conventional addition equations into columnar form. They can then progress on to adding 1 digit to 2 digit column addition and then adding double digit addition sums. You can use this resource to present in an assembly (10-15 mins) or as a standalone lesson as I have included worksheets. It is editable to suit learning abilities of your pupils. Remember to ‘Save As’, give a new name to the Presentation before editing. You can change the date of Mother’s Day as it changes each year. Content: • Assembly/Lesson Notes • 19 Slides – PowerPoint Presentation • Mother’s Day card to colour in and add additional designs • Worksheet 1 – Pupils draw four things and write simple sentences of what their mums do for them. • Worksheet 2 – Pupils draw four things and write simple sentences of what they will do on Mother’s Day to make it special • Worksheet 3 – Pupils complete a cloze activity. Meaning of Mother’s Day Traditional Simnel Cake now linked to Easter History of Mother’s Day and the ‘Mother’ Church Children think about how they can make their mums feel special on the day When USA and Mexico celebrate their Mother’s Day Geography link – You could ask pupils to locate USA, Canada, Australia, UK and Mexico on the map as they are all on different continents. Simple Ready-made card This is for some pupils who are reluctant to design a card. See preview pane. Print off the sheet onto card or good quality paper. Pupils can decorate and colour in and add their name at the bottom. Then fold along the line to look like a card. Second sheet with the heart should be printed on normal paper. Tell pupils to decorate the sheet with the large heart on and then cut out to stick onto the front of the card. 3 Optional Worksheets to use after assembly or lesson. Worksheet 1 – Pupils draw four things and write simple sentences of what their mums or foster mum or gran do for them. Worksheet 2 – Pupils draw four things and write simple sentences of what they will do to make Mother’s Day special. For example, he/she could draw themselves giving mum a tray with breakfast in bed and then write a sentence correctly punctuated. Additional Worksheet 3 – This worksheet is in two parts. There is a gap-filling activity with the words in the word bank. The second part is finding which day of the week is missing and then writing it.
